I want a decent winter lighter for defrosting locks

Padlocks and car locks. I was looking at some Zippo lighters on flea bay £15. Don't know if they are the genuine article?

@Dev advised me about one of the rechargeable sparkers, and it has been very good for creating enough spark to ignight the gas ring which is what I needed. They don't actually provide a flame, but they would be capable of lighting a cig.

Is there anything as good as a zippo that will not nqot blow out in a breeze?

Spray the insides with glycerin also smear the door & boot lid seals with it , it does not readily freeze below minus 20 OC IIRC.

Nope, that takes out any lube that’s in the locks and makes the matter worse.

zippos are cool, but impractical for infrequent use, as, every time you want to use it, youll find that the fuel has dried out.

if suggest just getting one of the gas mini blowtorch ones, as advised above. i have one (not the same) in my tool box. its probably no more than 60mm long. i virtually never use it, but, when i do, it starts first time and just works.

i have a zippo somwhere too. i never use it as its always run out of fuel.

On the key, you direct the flame on the key.....while you hold the key a few feet away from the car.....
