Hello all, first post here!
I recently did an introduction to MIG course at the local college, got myself set up to weld, and built a nice table and bench! wehay!
Now I immediately ran into what my lack of experience thought was a problem, I was using my evolution rage3 to cut the box section but it didn't have the range to cut the acute angle at the top.
I ended up making a mess of the 42 degree cut using an angle grinder.
I think most of the problem was in laying out the cut and lack of experience cutting with an angle grinder.
Has anyone got any tips for marking out/cutting an angle around the box section? the corners made it hard to line up across faces.
I managed to break the rage3 when I didn't properly clamp my metal and it jammed and broke the fence. I'm temted to buy something new because I wasn't really happy with the repeatability of the evolution saw. moving between mitre angles and bevel angles it seemed to need re-calibrating constantly and I was always struggling to get accurate mitres or square cuts.
The problem is evolution seem to be the only people making entry level saws for metal cutting. and even the saws specifically for cutting metal only go up to 45 degrees on a mitre. how do people cut their acute angles?
Some of their newer mitre saws seem to have wider angles but I don't want to buy something around £200 only to find it's got the same issues I had with the last evolution saw.
Am I getting too caught up on the tiny probability I'll need to make another acute angled cut?
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
