I've just used Minitool partition wizard to sort mine out, just download the free version. I've also used Gparted on a cd with the computer set to boot from cd drive, quite easy to understand and did the job admirably converting a partitioned drive into one big partition and formatting on the fly.

Essentially I know I have not installed Bootstar on my new SSD drives and it did not find it with the win 7 INSTALL.

Having fitted a new drive into a new Board and cpu and memory etc I fitted my old drives in as storage and so I can get rid of the crap amonst the small bits of useful stuff.
Anyway the system on boot up find bootstar from Star-Tools which is no longer in business.
I am sure I purchased a key for it way back in 2003 but cant find it now...so its resorting to its shareware nag screen. Adding a second on each time I reboot so we are now over 30 seconds and rising.

How the hell do I get rid of it!.....

Just go into computer management find that drive and format the partition

You don't need special partition tools, open a command prompt and run diskpart, you'll need to do some reading as you could end up wiping the wrong disk. It will let you completely clean a drive of config unless bootstar is fully locked down. I've used it on USB sticks at work that are locked to a specific size, diskpart allowed me to clear the config and restore the full capacity. That could not be done from the Windows GUI.

In layman's terms, right click on the start button and open computer management then disk management in the window that opens to see what is going on with the drive. Have you changed the boot order in bios to not boot from the offending drive ?

Aye but it gave enough info to do the job .is there a command to list commands ?

I have done that. See previous images . BUT it will not let me format the offending partition. Yes I changed the boot order and although I have been too busy to test it out today last time it booted without bootstar appearing...

You might well be onto my error......I used to hear my dad complaining about getting old....now I know what he means
