im doing something close to that by putting welds on the inside to limit the nut movement

SOLVED Ford F-Truck, FTruck, F Truck, F Series, F350, F250, Dana60, Dana70, 2,1/2" 12 sided rounded corner wheel spindle axle bearing lock nut...

stamp nut into 3mm pipe
beat in about 10mm with socket end that fit rounded corners
beat in the outside about i inch down on the outside to form a waist
weld a few beads around it
remove nut
bungo, should be strong enough for the nylex version of the nut...
dunno if it'll do the 2 nut/washer combo, 150lb's
