I need to cut an existing concrete lintel in half.

Probably quicker, to support both sides, and remove the wall….then put back what you need!

This is what I'm thinking now.
Top three rows of brick's off, break up the lintels then replace with new ones on new piers where needed.
I wish I'd just painted the walls now

Acrow the ceiling joists, take the brickwork out and put some steel in to hold the lot up then do away with the lintels.

Stitch drill it, starting with 6mm holes and then enlarging alternate ones to 15mm. Put some M10 rawlbolts into the holes and tighten with an impact wrench.

Or pack the holes with Dynacem!!

if the answer is it supports something then it support take out and rebuild whats needed put in new supports

ive also noted your 3 doors that is highly unsafe if it really is supporting anything above it

2 doors maximum with a steel beam with supporting wall underneath is fine

Going by the workmanship I'd say that they were installed by a 'put in more just in case' type. The 2-door span with the cinderblock wall in between (which looks like it was put in afterwards) would easily have been covered by some pre-cast lintels on edge just to hold up those 3 course infills.

If the floor is not wood I would gun off those 3 courses and roll the lintel off the top into the corridor onto some flimsy pallets and smash it up on the floor. I wouldn't be leaving part of it up there, in fact I doubt if it would stay up there once the bearing was lost one end.

I've re-read this and think I like the idea except it will disturb the bedroom knocking that part of the wall out right now. I'll have a think.
The ceiling joists run parallel so won't need an acro.

Yes it was two brothers that built this house and to two next door in the 50's
The lintel in the garage is twice the size of these put together!l, I should take it to Stonehenge!
As for the cinder block wall it's only 2" thick block and it's resting on a 2x2" timber that inturn rests on the floorboards, the floorboards are slightly curved now!

Stick up some shuttering to isolate the bedroom perhaps...then pull all the mess into the hallway.

Sometimes the way that looks the longest turns out to be the quickest!

Looks like your joists are running parallel to the lintel anyway but you might still have roof beams resting on it.

My house has a centre wall that carries the roof joists like that. The house is too deep to have 1 piece joists so they overlap in the middle and bear on the wall plate.

Same here...my house roof was being held up by a 1 brick pier because some numpty had assumed the pier was supported by a wall...which was actually just a boarded up doorway!

Some people should not be working on houses I think!

take the whole wall down if you want and rebuild it the fast way instead

fit the doors where you want them and where they are best

Too big to shift in one even if you could cut it, the only option is to smash it out with a breaker. Watch out though because it appears to have a pad stone above so what is that carrying?

from what i can see hes going to have massive issues with that concrete lintel

making it safe to use a breaker or even angle grinder cutting it put either one near it and thst going to be really unsafe even while temporary supported
dont use acrows with it

how to get it down safe its either scaffolding poles framework and extra poles so you can cut it up into manageable pieces or drop it down using genies and then brake it up

even if you could drill and split that concrete lintel inbetween the door jamb its going to be heavy real heavy

i wouldnt trust the engine lift unless you can get above it but as you dont know its weight its either going to be over the engine lifting capacity and a long arm at that

the alternative is scaffolding into a frames with pulleys to lower the concrete lintel down
