moore and wright mics Mitutoyo dial calipers starret and batty dti gauges or anything good quality second hand
Bore Mic's it is Tesa/Shardlow with Mitutoyo a close second and strangely Teng/Limit ones next.
Digi calipers, Digi Mic's, Analogue Mic's all Mitutoyo.
Had M&W analogue Mics and they were very nice but Imperial so did my head inStill preferred the Mitutoyos though.
Lots of the stuff I do is imperial but I work in metric so I measure in metric even if I am really making to Imperial dimensionsI have a set of mitutoyo mics in imperial. Often some of the things i would be working on would be imperial and i would be converting to metric to measure them. But really good quality imperial stuff is so cheap, i just picked tools up as i went along.
that's where digital calipers come in handy. convert from metric to imperial in secondsLots of the stuff I do is imperial but I work in metric so I measure in metric even if I am really making to Imperial dimensions![]()
Yes, definitely, same with the digi mic's, often I will just double check a prop shaft by pressing the button then press it back again to get my metric equivalent measurementthat's where digital calipers come in handy. convert from metric to imperial in seconds
Oh, now that's a thought.I have a set of mitutoyo mics in imperial. Often some of the things i would be working on would be imperial and i would be converting to metric to measure them. But really good quality imperial stuff is so cheap, i just picked tools up as i went along.
I have Moore and wright Imperial and Mitutoyo metric external, Starrett internal and Shardlow small internal set, My dial gauges are Mitutoyo digital and federal, mercer and batty traditional.I use the telescoping gauges and an ordinary external micrometer, it works well enough i suppose, for bore measurements. What brands do you like ? I love Starrett stuff apart from their micrometers for some reason, when buying mic's i always go for mitutoyos.
After seeing Parm's new height gauge I had a look at some of my measuring equipment. Most was purchased with a steel cabinet from the experimental departmental when my old employer closed down that I paid £40 for. Then a few additions over the years:

I suspect I may have to stop as have most of what I think I need. I have a small granite surface table too.
I need to clean my keyboard
It is covered in "slaver" now
no need its mostly farm work lolbut is it all calibrated?![]()
Officially no, but my slip gauges were in calibration when I got them and have seen so little use I can live with the risk. Lucky I am still not running to ISO 9001 any morevery nice kit but is it all calibrated?![]()
I suspect the cleaner is a few years old too:
