I quiried this with a traffic bobby, he said they dont like it but there is nothing they can do. Apparently the only reg regarding use of lights is you cant show a white one on the back. As long as they come on with the marker lights its ok

Not sure, to be honest. Certainly the traffic cops in Liverpool will pull you -- one of my mates got pulled and they ended up phoning up his insurance company in a (failed) attempt to get them to withdraw cover. I had to write (he is Czech and can't write English at all) a grovelling letter to his insurers on his behalf.........

One of the reasons they hate it so much is that their own plain clothes cars are externally distinguishable only by the flashing blue lights under the grill (and maybe by a second aerial).

I'm sorry to say this but I'm not sure about all this intransit bashing going on.
If he (or anyone) steps out of line on the forum then fair enough but he hasn't done anything on here to warrant abuse.
I feel just as strongly as anyone on unlicensed/uninsured drivers and I definitely think he's an idiot for doing it and admitting it as he's done but if we were to have a poll I'll bet he's not the only one of us to have driven illegally at some point in our lives.
We all love a bit of banter but this forum is always intended to be a friendly place so it would be nice to keep it that way .

It's the first time I can think of that anyone has got a bashing on this forum. I can't say i'm inclined to join in. I've certainly been no angel over the years, although I'd like to think i've not been such a numpty as to go round bragging about my misdemeanours.

Intransit seems like a nice kid - maybe not top of the class, if you know what I mean, but not a git, I reckon, so a bit of quality advice from the members here might be more useful than a slagging.

In Transit - Don't be a div mate - watch your step, and think how much trouble you might get into, and don't forget to watch out for the rest of us!

Like you say, most of us have done something silly or illegal in our time, we just keep it quiet .

True enough, Woz and Si, and perhaps I was a tad quick to join in on the bashing. That said, no matter where or when this happened it's not the kind of thing I'd class as 'silly'. The guy drove an unlicenced, untaxed and uninsured vehicle on a public road, presumably in full awareness of the illegality of his actions. However short the trip had something gone wrong, and a person or persons been injured or property damaged, there would have been no recompense for those involved. It's the kind of thing that, as an honest motorist, makes my blood boil.

I wasn't going to join in with this one, but the Ben Haynes thread was more of a stream of advice and constructive criticism regarding an unsafe towbar. I think that this thread has become too personal though. If I had any advice to offer intransit,or anyone else, it would be don't put pictures of your house, and your registration number on the internet, and then admit to breaking the law, we've all done daft things, I put it down to youth and inexperience.
