I dont understand it! This is causing immense frustration. Looks simple, I need a second pair of eyes !
Fiskars UPX86 telescopic pole pruner. The pole is fine, just before the string leaves the pole there is a 2:1 pulley and a plastic detachable blocks with single string coming off it, simple so far.
The head is a plasticy contraption. The blade returns by a spring. Also simple.
The head has a chain link to the blade (the last link fell off). I've temporarily bodged the last link with starter cord while I wait for replacement.
The chain is attached to a rotating spool which as it turns, winds up the chain, pulling the blade, also simple.
The spool has a pulley with a string running through it, out the casing, around the back, and tied off on the other casing. This allows the string to equalise for differing length as the head is rotated.
Where the string comes out of the spool, it appears to wrap twice around a free spinning spool back back out the casing, there the plastic blocks attach to the rest of the pole.
Video here - its an older model, but identical inside
Now the problem is this, I can assemble it exactly as in the video but whe I pull the string, nothing moves. If I assemble it with the chain would up and the blade closed, expecting it to spin after as the blade is opened, it doesnt. The spool moves around but string length is the same.
