Hi all,
Another mig newbie in need of some help. Some time ago I purchased a second hand Clarke 90 Pro mig welder and after an electrician friend checked it over and said it seemed OK, I put it in the garage and abandoned it. This week I decided to try it out (either that or 'the boss' said it had to go) and bought some wire and a small can of CO2, After a great deal of swearing and trying all the combinations of settings of voltage and speed possible I had to give up to seek some advice. The best (???) i could manage can be seen in the photos attached. The title of this message says it all! There was no penetration and it looked as if a passing seagull had deposited it's daily quota of s**t on it. I have checked that the gas is getting to the torch (after starting with it lying down instead of upright). The wire seems to be running smoothly but I cannot get a continual sizzle out of it, instead it just stutters and splatters. Advice would be appreciated or else it's going in the skip.
