Ummmm.... the lid's been broken on mine for probably five years now and I'm still using it with no ill-effectToday, I broke the lid of my MK IP66 double external socket on the shed.
Loads on the 'Bay for replacement, but I don't want to buy a substandard 'brand' - anything the equal of MK or are they much of a muchness - since MK seem to have gone up quite a bit in price since I bought the cave one.
Really should replace it...

I use Clipsal 56 range sockets outside up here. Never a problem in the 25 years they've been in use. They are IP67 rated IIRC so can put up with any weather this place can throw at them. The only thing I've discovered they don't like is being left plugged in and running a 3KW immersion heater for long periods. If not unplugged and replugged so the contacts get wiped they would overhead and fuse the live pin.
