I am a wanted man... Apparently!! (Another Scam)

Just received an automated phone call to let me know that Dept. Of Homeland Security has issued a warrant for my arrest, apparently. My name is in several investigations and I should press the 1 key to connect to an enforcement officer to discuss this.

Really, I did contemplate it just so I could tell them what I thought of them or maybe just to string them along for a while before going back to plan A. But that would probably be just a waste of my time and I probably would charged for a call back toll fee.

They are dumb enough to not know that here in OZ it is called Dept. of Home Affairs and if they did have a warrant out for my arrest, I am sure that they would just come knocking and not give me a heads up first.

I had one on my mobile telling me the inland revenue are going to freeze my bank accounts and issue a warrant for my immediate arrest if I don't press the 1 key. I'm still in hiding. Wife just asked if there's an extradition treaty between Oz and US

There is a great youtube channel where the guy baits and often takes down the computer networks of the scammers, jim browning, very easy to listen to, no BS, better that TV these days!

I don't understand why anyone bothers having a home phone nowadays.
Years ago we had a new phone line put in with a new TV package.

Plugged a phone into the line and 1 minute later it rang with a cold call. Unplugged the phone and never bothered with it since. That must of been 15 years ago.

Not quite, I closed down a vat account and within days got a pre recorded voice call to my mobile showing HMRC number stating a warrant was out for my arrest which I found a bit suspect given my recent correspondence with HMRC, did they intercept my calls or is someone at HMRC passing on info

I'm not saying you don't get them on a mobile but they are far more frequent on a land line and if you have a mobile why the need for a home phone?

Hi, There was a time when Sky satellite packages require a landline, so they could call the box in the early hours of the morning and interrogate it for what you had been watching and for how long so that advertising could be more targetted.

I had a landline phone with my new BT package, when we moved house, but only my dad knows the number, nobody else has called it in the four months since we moved here.

I just jinxed it, didn't I.

My 85 year old dad gets regular arrest warrant calls, Amazon Prime debt reminders, calls about his recent car accident, etc etc.

Um some of us live in places where there's no mobile reception

My broadband provider has call-filtering on landlines as standard. The scam callers hang up as soon as they hear the system's recorded message because they know no-one with filtering is going to choose to listen to them. Unlike a voice mail, I'm not even aware they have called.

All the providers have this facility, but I did need to log on to my account to enable it. It wasn't enabled by default. Other providers may charge extra for this feature.

If you are responsible for the welfare of a vulnerable person it would be prudent to enable this feature for them.

My mobile displays all numbers and as I'm not in business I have no overwhelming need to answer numbers that aren't already in my contacts.

Dont you get the "weve been informed that youve had an accident" calls?.......I get quite a few on my mobile.........i ask "who informed you" and they ring off
