Can’t speak for Hyundai but what I did was I watched a lot of you tube reports and nearly all took quite a bit of time to fill up to just over 8 bar @ 50ltr This was by far the quicker as others were 1 1/2 mins and upwards

My previous unit was a cheap workzone Aldi 24l and the new TEH is quite a bit quieter although calling them silent is a big lie

In relation to standard direct drive compressors, however, they're quieter.

I was interested in the TEH performance for size and the quoted low noise but the vid didn't seem that quiet.
My 10yr old+ is a noisy direct drive, bit slow but works well enough, remembered I had a sound meter from messing with drag bikes when I was brave enough, thought I'd give it a test.



So if the TEH is quoted as 80, not massively quieter ...

Although decibels is not a linear thing.

Don’t think noise works quite on a linear scale. At 80 dec it’s probably worth finding out what other things are at the same level to compare like drill, washing machines and perhaps vacs.

I think the 80db will be ok for me, I'll just use it when spraying and the Hyundai for more general use.

Noise is not a particularly intuitive thing.

If you have a noisy item giving a reading of X dB, adding a second one to double the noise source will give X + 3 dB. Adding another two to double it again will give X+6 dB and adding another four to double the noise source yet again will give X+9 dB.

At ninety dB, the direct drive unit is as noisy as ten of the 80 dB TEH units running together or a thousand of the super-quiet 60 dB units (all assuming the numbers are true).

Here is a comparison with the two side by side. If anything, the TEH looks better built, time will tell.

As for the sound, I downloaded this app and measured the Hyundai first, the trace on the left then the TEH on the right side of the trace, it is much louder. The Hyundai will not bother anyone. As for the TEH, its much quieter then any other piston but compressor I have had but could be annoying to neighbours if used a lot.

I plan to keep the Hyundai in the garage for regular use and then use both when I'm spraying. The TEH will stay in the shed furthest away from the neighbour that's most likely to moan.

One final comment, the TEH heads do get much hotter than the Hyundai ones, I guess that's expected given the HP difference, but will probably have an impact on longevity.

The TEH has 4 separate pumps, the Hyundai has 2 tandem pumps.
So 4 input pulses to open air against 2 + 4 pumps going from 0 to 8 bar against a pair of low feeding into high pumps
hence the sound, HP and output differences.

Not too expensive I don't think personally. 100L tank and 15.2cfm which is pretty good in my eyes.
