I have a Hypertherm Powermax 900 plasma cutter - (this is an old model last made in 2001) and it has developed an odd fault.
The compressed air starts to flow as soon as the machine has sorted itself out after power on. The machine cuts absolutely fine (rather nicely actually!) but the air is supposed to stop flowing 10 seconds after the cutting stops. It doesn't - it stays flowing BUT briefly is stopped and then re-started if you pull the trigger again to start another cut.
I'd thought that the air valve or the electronics driving it was stuck, but as it briefly cuts the air off obviously it's deeper in the electronics.
The control board - which is a 041576 - must be where the fault lies. I've removed it today given it a good clean and tried to trace the circuitry but it's a bit intricate!
Ideally I need a circuit diagram for a 041576 PCB. my one semi 'inside' contact at Hypertherm in the US has been unable to help
Alternatively a pcb from a scrapped PM900 - (this PCB was superseded by 041576 which is a direct replacement)
I could just live with this fault but it wastes a lot of air
