Hydrovane 15, oil seperator problem???

Hi all

When I drain my compressor I notice there is more oil than water coming out.

Could this be a major problem or could it be the oil seperator?

Also, where would you recommend getting a oil seperator from and a service manual?

Is it really oil or just oil in the water? There isn't that much oil in a hydrovane so worth checking the level. There is a member on the forum who has manuals carn't remember the name at the moment

It looks like a mix of oil and water, quite a lot compared to my Mattei AS1

Also, the compressor seems to be having a bit of a hard time getting upto pressure (10 bar), its taking longer than it did a few weeks ago and sometimes the safety cut out clicks so the compressor turns off before getting up to temp.

If you collect the drain off and leave it in a clear glass bottle/container the oil? and water should seperate. Oil floats on water! so see how much oil is on the top, like the cream you use to get on a pint of milk years ago. For the younger viewers a pint of milk is like a litre of milk only you got more milk and cream on top : )....and a man with a battery vehicle would sneek into your garden in the early morning and ..............

I have an auto drain fitted and this drains into a large plastic container, when I have checked it looks like about 20% of it is oil and the rest water. The oil looks like a dark brown colour. The hydrovane puts out much more water and oil than the Mattei and they are both used for the same hours. The mattei does not put out any oil which I why I am sure this is not right.

This is my first hydrovane so I am not sure if this is normal or if it just needs a good service.

u shouldnt get any oil through the airlines from the pump

Do you think this could be down to the compressor needing a service including changing the oil separator?

If so. is this quite straight forward to do myself if I can get a service manual?

I would not mind paying someone from here who knows what they are doing to do this, I am in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Ok, bought a service kit, Done it today as it was straight forward.

Oil needed changing and the seporator had seen better days.

Had the compressor up and running and it cuts in and out as it should. Now I will give it a couple of weeks and see if its still passing out oil.

The build quality of these machines is really something
