Hydraulic pipe bender repair

Another job on my list.

Repair hydraulic pipe bender. Must have some grunt as has formers up to 2" capacity. Tonnage? The formers say "staffa". Anyone here got the same tool?

Anyway, the control valve has some issues and needs to be stripped down. It's difficult to get a clear photo but there appears to be a captive clip or something that has snapped and it's proving a bugger to remove. I thought I would be able to tease it out but that now seems unlikely.

Your suggestions are most welcome.

Already tried that. It looks like both halves have been mashed making removal difficult.

Looks like a snap ring to prevent the valve being from being wound all the way out.
I'd screw the valve fully in to get as much access as possible, then it'll probably require a bit brute force with a couple suitable small levers/screwdrivers/chisels.

Either that, or does the knob come off?
If it does, the valve may screw all the way through.

Agreed, it does look like a snap ring. I've tried the screwdrivers + force thing. I hadn't considered whether the knob could be removed and that may explain why there seems to be insufficient clearance to remove the ring. I need to take another look. Thanks.

Finally got it out. After a lot of wasted time trying to pick/prise it out, I ground a small punch down to fit the gap and gave the bits a few choices whacks to "untwist" them from the groove and they fell out.
