Brief update on the Huvema.
I have done some light cleaning on it over the last few weeks (it still needs more cleaning).
Unfortunately, the coolant or oil the previous owners used on the lathe reacted with the paint on the backsplash.
When I cleaned the backsplash, most of the paint just scraped away.
I had no intention of doing any painting on this lathe. However, needs must.
I cleaned off all the old paint.
Hung the backsplash in the paint shop.
Primer was Jotun Penguard Express ZP.
A few of the usual suicide bugs came and sat on the paint.
For the topcoat, I used some leftover Raptor paint.
I like the look.
Backsplash installed again.
Today, I moved the lathe to gain access to the rear of it. I need to sort the coolant electrics and clean the coolant tank, as once the lathe is in place, I won't have access to the electrical cabinet or coolant pump.
If I can get that done tomorrow, the lathe will finally make it into the garage.
