Husqvarna 236 fuel leak.

My Husky suddenly puked a load of fuel out the other day but I couldn't find where it came from until today when it did it again and I took it apart.
I found a small hole in the top of the fuel tank by the carb that was open. You can see it down by the fuel pipe.
I thought that's odd but then saw rattling around in there was this,

It's part 15 on the parts diagram. The diagram also shows a check valve underneath it but that's disappeared! Is this some anyone knows about?
What does the valve do?
Any help appreciated

Lets air into the tank as the fuel level drops.

As Bob says. Its an air valve so you dont get a vacuum in the tank.

Thanks chaps! I've just found the part on LS Engineers website, I've also ordered a new genuine air filter as the pattern one I got off Ebay was like a bit of carpet tile
I love my saw!

Any idea why that bung would have come out and does it just press back in? Vibration maybe as I'm pretty sure I didn't drop it.

General wear and tear, I had the same with a Stihl MS460 they don't last forever.
