You're not wrong there...I'm running my petrol XC70 regularly from London to Yorkshire...I'm careful on the throttle and getting around 28mpg .I also had the Volvo estates but they were far too thirsty.
So the Superb is too small, you don't want a big 4x4, mpv, pickup or van. What exactly do you want?
No.@Domdom you didn't say anything about a 6x6.

Or if you meant no tall off-road vehicles then...

Well, I thought it would be easy getting an estate bigger than the Superb. But the manufacturers don’t make estates of their big models any more it seems. S class, 7 series, etc.So the Superb is too small, you don't want a big 4x4, mpv, pickup or van. What exactly do you want?
@premmington In the nineties I always ran estate cars and had Audi 80s but there were small after i discovered a simple 80s Astra estate. I also had the Volvo estates but they were far too thirsty.
It made you realise that there’s a massive following for practical estate cars.
Appreciate the offer. Going to look at one on Friday so will know more then.On the Volvo XC70 the seats go down flat...and on mine the dog guard can be fitted behind the drivers seats. If using it with the seats down is an option then it's a huge flat area.
I can measure my p2 XC70 if you want...the p3 I think is a similar size.

I got a vw passat estate 1.6 £30 a year road tax & loads of space. In fact I chose it over a Octavia estate as when the rear seats were down on the skoda, there was a rounded bulkhead that wouldn`t allow the whole rear to lay totally flat unlike the passats. The old mk1 Octavia Estate I recently bought is well handy - some just aren't well thought-out & easy to use.
The rear squabs you just lift the front and tip fwd, then the uprights drop & make a dead flat load space, with a low and wide load entrance. Super easy & practical to switch from one mode to the other, and a very usable load space.
I have a 25kg E-Mtb and the weight, flapping handlebars, pedal arms etc make them a real wrestle to put into the back of cars generally - but it's simple to get into the Octavia.
+1 for the XC70 D5Appreciate the offer. Going to look at one on Friday so will know more then.
On paper it's smaller (litres) than the Superb, but the photos show it is a huge space without all the nooks and crannies so it's more of a true number.
My mothers husband has one.I got a vw passat estate 1.6 £30 a year road tax & loads of space. In fact I chose it over a Octavia estate as when the rear seats were down on the skoda, there was a rounded bulkhead that wouldn`t allow the whole rear to lay totally flat unlike the passats.
What about a skoda yeti ? they seem to have loads of rear space ?
