You will find the 'correct' speeds and feeds quoted everywhere, these are fine and will work well, but they are mostly designed for production work to extend tool life and get parts made quickly.
On a smaller machine at home you may find that different settings work better for you, don't be afraid to experiment once you've learnt the basics .
