Just to be clear, @Seadog is on the money, or his RFD is, the gun is worth tuppence and a balloon and your colleague would be well advised to scrap it and buy a much more modern and likely better made shotgun, prices have never been so low, the looming lead ban has decimated values, I know of a true English gun which was bought for £15,000 just four years ago sold recently for £4,500

I sold a mint condition 1906 Purdey at auction last summer for £2,300.

i sold mine in mint condition 8 yrs ago 750 quid. was lucky cos the stock was cast left handed . was working at a womans house and saw a gun cabinet she just had fitted and she was after a new gun . i said im selling mine but its for a lefty . great so am i that was handy for both of us

I'll make it if you want it's easy peesy, but I don't have any of the right oil quencable steel here and really you need the action to final fit and test it, if I leave it soft and in the white maybe you can get a gunsmith to fit it and harden it off ?

Really kind offer @sardine, it was just a work colleague asking me, not a friend, have told him to scrap the gun, an excuse to buy a new one.

Actually not such a daft idea, a hundred quid will buy you one and frankly if you cannot afford £100 depreciation over twelve months you need to be engaged in something else. They are also quite a useable gun too. We refer to them as Russian Purdey's.
