How would you define yourself professionally apart from being a welder?

Self taught welding.
I've started as an hobbyist ended up becoming an heavy equipment machinist.
I weld mostly non critical stuff and the critical welds I do are not coded or tested by no-one.
Despite the high liability involved in some cases.
Nothing special I don't consider myself a welder by any means.
A machinist? For sure
An electrician? Yes that's what I've done till 3 years ago .
A mechanic? Not really, just having fun moving spanners here and there

I find a professional title is generally optimistic, especially in large employers. I'm payed as a design engineer by a large engineering firm, but so are a lot of others who are not practically capable.
Chosing my own skill based profession, I'd go with mechanical engineer.

ohh Im currently a mentor in a call centre, advising new colleagues how to do things..... thats because someone else is on holiday, so I'm taking it easy until I retire. Roll on next Thursday when I take early retirement at 54 so then I'll be doing more volunteering at my local industrial museum, more model engineering and more playing with cars...... and I might even do some welding.

Electrical Fitter by trade, but also spent 17 years as a mechanic. Did a bit of Class 1 HGV driving, some property maintenance, but for the last 30 ish years I’ve been in IT. Sys Admin this last 10 years.
All the while doing odd bits of welding here and there - gates, railings, etc.
I just muddle through - don’t really feel professional at anything!
