Hey guys,
Quick one.. the yard where I work on my car, the guy has asked me to weld this (identical) hydraulic hose fixture to the arm of his Volvo digger. The unit comes apart and you are left with the plate at the bottom.
It's light enough, versus the digger arm. I only have 0.8 MIG wire and some 3.2mm rods. What would be the best route to weld this on? I am sure either would work, but interested in the answers that come back.
I am aware care needs to be taken when welding light and heavy steel as the light stuff might get too hot while the heavy doesn't heat up enough and penetrate? Correct?
Would I be correct saying the 3.2mm rod would be better?
Any input is welcome, thank you.
