Morning all. I am new to oxy-acetyline welding and only need it very occasionally - up to now I have got someone else to the odd job for me. But I need to be able to do it myself and was advised to get a couple of Albee bottles from Air Liquide as I would not be paying rent while they sat around doing nothing. Good idea I thought. The friend who did the odd Oxy-job for me was happy to show me the ropes and thought I could top up with a bit of YouTube as necessary. But my friend has gone AWOL (domestic issues...) and I now find myself with a pair of Albee bottles and little but questions. The Albee bottles are advertised as having a regulator built in to save me the trouble of suppling, maintaining and replacing my own. The bottles have an on-off valve; a single gauge with gives a level of contents in the bottle, and a turn-wheel with numbers on it, but no indication of what the numbers refer to. There are many YouTube videos on using oxy-acetyline but they all show a conventional two-gauge system and stress the importance of knowing the pressure on both sides of the regulator. As I have no intention of blowing up anything, I do not intend to use this until I understand what I am doing. I cannot find anything on YouTube about using Albee bottles except the promo-fluff from Air Liquide which says "simply plug and go" or words to that effect. I suspect that were I familiar with using a conventional set-up I would know what that means, but I am not. I have called Air Liquide several times asking to speak to tech support and they promise to call me back, but never do. All very frustrating.
Does anyone on the forum use Albee, or know of a YouTube video showing how it should be used? Many thanks in anticipation...
