The last one I read, for a 1007 didn't mention removing the sender, it was bypassed.
As specialist tools needed.

The last one of these I helped to remove was on a Vauxhall. We dropped the tank, can’t remember if we had to to get to it or if we dropped it to give us more room. Anyway it was tight but a big hammer and a drift removed it, eventually.

I just checked with my mate in the US and he recons bleach and a UV light will sort it out in no time, if not then a gas torch should see your ring removed double quick! and no more virus worries, double bubble!

If it was a job on my list, I'd make up a tool, fit the longest lever I could get my hands on (4m of 20mm rebar probably) and it would not resist. I wouldn't worry about being able to move the lever far, it only needs to move at all and the fixing will be loosened.

Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I shall move the earth.

Try tapping the ring with a drift in the direction to tighten then drift to undo. Can’t say I’ve ever had any real problems getting them off although some Renaults with the screw on collar and plastic tanks the tank distort if it is full of fuel when refitting and will leak . Solution is to drain tank before refitting.

My pen'or' th worth :- Remove the cables, remove the lift pipe banjo securing bolt .
Cut a triangle on a 12 inch length / block of square wood ( old fence post sort of size ? ) so it has enough size to fit the triangle of lugs , drill out a space for the union of the fuel pump .
Gently try undoing with an equal downward pressure . Perhaps screwing a cross member to the top end to make a T bar to turn it .

I always find hamsters go a bit soggy after the first couple of blows. Use something a bit firmer, like and aardvark or tortoise

It was a Glesga hamster, well hard!

Any option to disconnect the fittings and drop the tank ? Or does it contain 70Kg of fuel?

Gauge telling me just over half tank
Easy enough to get onto, just tank flexing when really putting pressure on
