Hi all,
I'm just installing a woodburner and need to join a round 5" steel pipe to a 7" square clay liner, i can insert the 5" flue inside the 7" clay liner by 300mm, then i was thinking of stuffing around the 5" pipe with fibre glass then sealing each end with some fire cement....
So my question is will the fibre glass be fine to use around the flue pipe to seal it to the clay chimney and will the fire cement be ok to use to seal the fibre glass in or will it be a too big lump that will crack and fall out?
i know all about HETAS and lining chimneys with 5" stainless steel but i don't need to do this as there is no leaks on our clay lined chimney.
I understand that fibre glass can handle 250 degs and the stove pipe should be about 200 degrees so i see no problem... does anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks!
Dave.
