How to repair this board.

I have tried before but I was able to replace the micro switch. However I never persued a replacement while the original one worked.


It's not looking good now so I don't know if I can repair it again with a new switch.
But I could do with getting a replacement if one exists.
5bws-b433. Board Seems to be a 433 mhz board but I was told it was 175 mhz I think.

Well it might have helped if you'd told us what it is/was. Garage door remote perhaps?
I don't think there is any frequency allocation in the UK for 175MHz for that type of application, so I would think its 433MHz.
The pads have come off the board so it's going to be tricky, but if you can't get a replacement there's nothing to lose.
What size are the switches? I think I have some 6mm square ones and would have a go if you like.

Ah OK it is a Wayne Dalton wall station. For a garage door.
They also have a free standing remote but I can't find it currently.

I already have the replacement micro switches but wondered if there was a way of repairing the tracks.

It's also come up while searching that it may be 372mhz but I can't see how it can be both.

The battery holder looks a bit sht too.

Before doing a repair note that too much heat willl cause the copper traces to peel off, you need to be quick with soldering.

Clean up the board with care, then follow the trace back to a suitable solder point. Green wire the switch to the solder points and then epoxy the back of the switch in position, care not to get any inside the switch. Should last the life of the unit. Hot glue to prevent the green wires flapping around or getting pulled off.

Otherwise, you can likely get them on amazon or ebay.

that can be repaired

but your going to need better than a large soldering iron to do it since that unit apears like someone used one of them

you need a pcb cleaner solder braid and thats just to clean it

repairing stuff you can use a few ways to repair it including metal conductive paint

Conductive paint is poo.

Either use some scrap pcb's and get plenty of practise, or find somome who is decent at smd soldering.

What an awful mess - no need for that at all, it needs to go to somone who knows what they're doing. As @Kram says, 'green wire' (it's actually kynar wire wrap and available in all colours) and glue the switch. However, since someone has made such a bloomin' mess the area needs cleaning (IPA and brush) and the area inspecting thoroughly for other damage.

You can follow the tracks and use jumper wires to the next component/solder pad if you have difficulty scraping the solder mask and crud off the tracks or pads and soldering to them.

Most are the same under different labels. However, your repair job would be better with fine solder wire.
