How to remote start an engine on an engine stand?

Hi all

I want to tune my engine a 1500 mg engine whilst it is out having the clutch change i have seen on other site where people have started the engine whilst it is on an engine stand.

Has anyone done this?

To tune it properly you will need the exhausts on as they will give some back pressure to the cylinders. You'll be better waiting until the lump is back in the car.
Can you not just drop the gearbox and leave the engine in situ?
you'd be able to tune the engine in the car then.

Does the starter motor fasten to the block or the bellhousing?

You'll also want some coolant in the engine and a radiator with airflow unless you want to cook your engine.
Best way is to tune once in a car and the engine can also be put under load to test properly.

Or put a k series in matched up to a ford type 9 gearbox, minimal tunnel house mods, and all the bits available off the shelf, prop, engine mounts , exhaust etc, 200bhp in easy reach....

hmm. K series 200bhp? how long will that last?
200 is about the limit for a type 9 also. Ford started using the BW T5 for the cossies
