Enamelled, aren't they?Might depend on how old they are, I suppose.

Like @slim_boy_fat said they are usually enamelled but then an oven doesn't usually have red hot coals sat against the sides, so I'd just leave it bare steel, Sure it might rust a bit if you leave it out every winter but it'll still last a long time, it's not like it's the wafer thin metal that most bought bbq's are made of.whats the inside of a domestic oven finished in? dont know where ours is ,otherwise id have a look,![]()
What's the tube hanging down between the legs for ? A vent ? Does it need it ?
^ Sorry I'm being thick at the moment, So when it's finished it's going to be mounted on a pole rather than stand on the curved pig legs that it's currently standing on ?![]()
What calor you gonna paint it?![]()
Exactly that, but my lad'll have the best of both worlds if he decides to build up a block & paving slab support [highly unlikely since he's not very practical]. Also it'll allow dismantling for storage in his small shed. Here's an earlier pic I posted

That's what I'm planning, I've a 13kg bottle that will make a nice small barbie, I'm on the lookout for a nice stainless grill ideally 11" by 11"....I need to make a nice wee BBQ now so that I can cook day to day bits on it rather than use the smoker.
make u own from stainless re bar thats what i am doingThat's what I'm planning, I've a 13kg bottle that will make a nice small barbie, I'm on the lookout for a nice stainless grill ideally 11" by 11"....
I can't really justify buying a Tig welder just to make a grill for a barbie, I mean sure I'd love a Tig welder but....make u own from stainless re bar thats what i am doing

I suppose I could Mig mine, I've got a reel of stainless wire but I know I'd never be happy with it because it would be a much neater job if I Tig welded it.... Damn it now you've got me looking on the bay of fleas at Tig welders, I don't suppose anyone has an old transformer based scratch start going cheap ? after all that's what I learnt on and whilst having HF, a foot pedal etc is nice I can produce nice welds with a basic machine.i am going to mig mine sure the welds wont be stainless but u dont cook on the welds
I've got a esab buddy tig in the forsale sectionI suppose I could Mig mine, I've got a reel of stainless wire but I know I'd never be happy with it because it would be a much neater job if I Tig welded it.... And very nice it is but I can't justify that kind of money no matter how new & shiny it is.I've got a esab buddy tig in the forsale section
A basic scratch start machine can be really frustrating when you're learning compared to a better machine with HF etc, but Tig has to be one of the most satisfying of all the welding processes when you get it right. If you get the chance have a go at Tig I urge you to do so, you'll be so pleased with yourself when you do your first beautiful weld.i have a scratch start on my inverted mma machine but never tiged before
