It's odd to me that in the video they say their Stockport branch covers the North of England and all of Scotland - have they completely forgotten they have a depot in Glasgow?

I'm considering in getting solar power but at 70 years of age is it really worth it?

obviously these 8 panels will need maintenance.
what are the pro's /cons on these?
I know nothing about KW etc is 2,6 good enough?
how do these work is there batteries?.

For the cost of used panels, its a no-brainer for anyone with a roof pointing the right way, really.
But 2.6kw for £4k is a much harder choice.
Again, the latest set i bought were £350 for 4kw with inverter and mounting frames (which im using elsewhere, hence this thread)

Depends on how you want to do it John.
typically the solar panels simply feed back into the grid to be used as necessary. In this case there are no batteries and the energy generated is shared amongst other users. The owner then gets a feed in tariff which means the energy company pays the panel owner a certain amount per KW. I believe feed in tariffs now are not worth much.
There is the option to have a battery bank with a inverter set up. This can be run like above but give you options when there is a power outage or you can for example use the stored power during peak tariff periods.
Or you can go the whole hog off grid and disconnect from the mains. But that's a lot more complicated to do reliably in our country.
If its worth it or not financially depends on initial cost vs time to recover these cost. With the payment per KW at the moment it could take a long time. The panels are generally maintenance free other than keeping them clean and should last 20 years or longer.
Could be worth looking into solar hot water for more savings throughout the summer?

With electricity prices only set to rise further it would seem sensible to me that installing solar thermal and PV panels has got to be the way forward! Our 4kw system is still performing excellently and have good output, no doubt that they have saved us a small fortune in electricity over the last 12 odd years! Although I fitted my own so didn't incur that cost on top of the panels. When we did ours mid 2010 they were just shy of £10,000 for 4kw!
