How to make floating seat garden brackets - newbie advice

I'd be tempted to make the benches stand alone using hidden "C" frames....bottom leg of the "C" can be buried in the ground and the back just pinned to the wall to prevent movement. This way you mostly eliminate the loads on the wall.

Simplifies the project to just building a couple of benches.

thanks @badabec but I don't think this would quite fit in with the look that we are going for

I like the idea of the C brackets over even the brackets that nick shared, my problem is that the tiles have just be layed and we have a border between the wall the tiles with decorative stones so I don't think either of those options would work now. I really should have thought about this before all everything else was completed.

blocks are 7n, solid concrete, not hollow.

probably should have also said the wall is 750mm high and i would be putting the bench 450mm off.

blocks are 7n, solid concrete, not hollow.

Problem with free standing walls in general is there is very little load holding the bricks/blocks down (Vs say a house with a roof on the walls).

What's at the back of the wall?
Could you go straight through and put plates at the back to spread the load and beef things up.

Some light vertical stainless legs on or near the front edge would massively improve the situation. You wouldn't need many because the lateral load and a lot of the vertical shear load would be carried by the wall anchors, but you'd take away the cantilever reaction from the wall trying to lift it and move it to compressive shear which it would be more than capable of handling.

10 people on the bench as per the OP sounds like a recipe for 10 people on the floor with a couple of courses of breeze block wall scattered all over them.

If you have access to the back, core through the tiles and blocks and put a tube right through. The tube can be held by a post bolted down to the ground so the only force on the block work is vertically downwards, nothing trying to twist the top courses of blocks off.

i only have access to the back on one of the walls, the other wall has a full bank of soil behind it for a rockery.

I had thought about drilling right through and having a huge backplate to spread the load but a metal post bolted to the concrete foundations is maybe a better idea.

10 people seems a bit ambitious unless you're going for a Guinness record and where does one put ones Guinness?

i suppose i am thinking 10 would be the maximum it could take space wise, i would hope that it would be a lot less than that.
