how to make flat steps non slip

My mates place that he rents out is on the 1st floor.
The tennant slipped down the steps the other day.
Steps are out side steps up to the front door.
Personally I do not find them slipery but she probably had flip flops or something on her feet.
The steps have been coated in some kind of hot melt bitchemen i cant spell!

could I hea this up and make it tacky and stick sand to it?
or am i better off painting it with something non slip
blacktar/blackjack and sand?
or do nothing?

Was just going to suggest the anti slip tape as well .

Looks like its already had the kiss of death by being painted. Its like all these things, once they have been altered they have to be fit for purpose. Painting/coating a concrete/stone step that had grip is a liability, you can get grip tread plate in various widths.

that tape would work.
i haves used a similar tape in a shower before

Those steps have been done with Roofing Mastic Asphalt...you cant re-heat it up and make it sticky. better using a none slip paint. @8ob they have not been painted,that's bare Asphalt

All the stairs at the box factory were treated Belzona and Granogrip.

Thats the problem, the original stone/concrete would of had grip, I would have thought that coating would be like walking on ice when its wet.

Thats a skilled dying art doing vertical work with hot Asphalt..those stairs are a very good job and the guy who done them knew the art

TBH I was in trainers and had plenty of grip it was damp today, with my boots on no problem with grip in the wet yesterday

probably done 40 year ago I would reakon! next door is the same one side next door the other side still have bare concrete and there steps are more slipery IMO

I say 50-40 years old too from the style of the building

I think the tape option is the best way forward here maybe even the yellow tape as it is my mates rental property just so it stands out

I'd be considering taking an angry grinder to it to rough up the concrete.
or *maybe* a pressure washer? (I blasted out a lot of the sand/cement from a concreted surface with a washer - by accident! - its much less slippy now. )

it is not concrete though thats under the 10-0mm or ashphelt

yea could be..it was widely used in the 60,s right through to the 90,s...I used to have an Asphalt wagon and crew doing all educational buildings in the 90,s...crew started at 7.30am and i used to have a lad come in at 5am to light the Asphalt boiler which was part of the wagon...similar to this but a lot scruffier
