How to hold/cut these

Feel a bit daft asking but struggling to hold these..just have vice, hack saw etc, trouble is they need to hang out the vice so far that there's not enough to grip on..it's a m5 size

i have new joiners ...i want to cut them in 2 as per the cut in the photo , the angle of the cut means the blade would cut into the vice

m5 nut isnt really man enough to hold it up in the vice if the joiner is sticking out far enough to swing a blade at it

Do you have an angle grinder? I reckon you’d be able to clamp enough on one end of the joiner and cut without using too much pressure especially if using thin slitting discs.

Hold sideways at an angle and cut horizontally along top of vice jaws

Stand a couple of bits of 3mm plate in the vice, clamp up nuts and cut down through plates/nuts from the top.

That's the method I use. I usually use wood instead of metal though, but that's because I cut with hand tools, not grinders.

Beaten by @bricol but here's a pic anyway

I did think of angle grider with 1mm blade in it but you'd probably end up losing half of the nut when the cut off bit is launched into the void at the end of the cut

gets some allthread or longis bolt, thread one on and secure with nuts to lock it and then hold the all thread/bolt in the vice. then chop through

Cut them off square then hit the angle in with a flap disc afterwards?
