how to get a flat shiny finish

hi every one just after a bit of advice, i have sprayed a wing in using cellys basecoat i have used 1k acyclic clear coat 3 coats, but just want to get a real nice finish i have heard of colour sanding will but just a bit scared of going through again , i have just purchased a variable machine polisher with a 3m polishing pad and some g3 compound just want to be pointed in the right direction thanks.

First block it with either 1200 or 1500 grade (depending on texture) wet and dry paper used very wet and using a block to keep it flat. A few drops of fairy liquid will help too. If you break through the lacquer, scuff it all down with a scotch pad to give it a tooth and shoot some more clear, though you should be OK with 3 coats. When you have a uniform dull surface fire up your polisher and hit it with the G3. KEEP IT WET! Keep going until the G3 has completely broken down. Apply again and keep going until you have a uniform surface. Try to look at a reflection of something straight like the edge of a wall. The straighter it looks in the reflection the smoother the paint. When you are happy move onto something like G10 and then finish with a wax free polish. Don't go near it with wax for at least a month.
