I have always loved the classic Corvette, in evrey way i love them, more the big blocks, i love V engines and the looks of these cars are just sweet, probably why i love the Cobra also, these cars have style and something to look at, leave all the modern boring cars in the car sales, well this morning i was mooching fleabay, not to buy....i wish, and i came across this




Why on earth did Ecklers do this i will never know

Only reason i can think of is to get 2 sets of golf clubs in the boot

Over the years theres been several small firms that have converted regular saloons into estates like Farnham did it to the Zephyr/Zodiacs,
some of these conversions looked right and of course some didn't?

A friend of mine is just finishing restoring an ultra rare Vauxhall Cresta estate and if this is common of the build quality its not good,
they simply gas axed the back half of the roof off about 2ft behind the windscreen and left all the snots on it, from inside it looks like loads of ballbearings hanging from the roof, thank god for headlinings.
then layed the fibreglass estate section on, loads of poprivets and filler,job done!
Oh...and a 'special' piece of stainless trim that goes down the rear quarters to hide the join.

Don't agree either!! Mind you the cabriolet was a good looking car as well....and the coupe is now appreciated as a good looking car.


Best thing to do with that fugly corvette is to buy it cheap and reconvert it back to original. The early one were really good looking.

Bit of a US oddity, the Vette. All of them were/are GRP. But have to say,the base model used was pretty ugly to start with.

If choosing a vette, I would go for the more recent Z1, with the Lotus designed engine. The base model in the OP was a bit of a nail, even in its day, handling with the 7lt donk was somewhat iffy.
