how to charge UPS battery bank ?

So I have aquired a 48 v UPS, made up of eight 12 v x 5 amp hour batteries.( vision CP1250 ) which I will rewire in parralel, what kind of charge cycle or charger do I need for these batteries ?

The end game would be to put a solar panel on them and use them as a spare bit of 12 v power on my boat.

Can you butcher the charger out of the ups? Im guessing probably not, as it would be very integrated.

Sealed lead acid batteries need different charging to vented. If you push them too hard they bend....

I have a small wall-wart type unit here, but its just a slow charger for individual batteries. But, really, whatever you think of buying, make sure it supports sealed units (i cant recall the details, but i think both the float voltage, and the charge ampage are all different)

It would seem, from the spec sheet for the battery, that it needs a constant voltage charger at 13.7V

Trouble is solar controllers are a higher voltage than 13.7 v.

I will be charging the whole bank in paralel 12 v, 40 ah, im wondering what the maximum charge amps would be ?

16 amps max at 13.7 v then.

I'm going to have to fettle the voltage on a charger I think .
