Brake discs are 'accountant-designed' with ~2mm of wear in them before hitting minimum thickness, effectively, this means you'll get two sets of brake pads worth of wear out of them before they need changing. in UK/EU, it's just not worth the time & cost of re-facing brake discs.
This is also why Quik-Fit etc. offer brake pads for life, with the high brass content, they know you'll be paying for brake discs every other set of pads, maybe every set.

you can be sure though that they have been trained, tested and accredited to work on vehicles

The dealerships that I know, employ the cheapest people they can get which usually means they've just moved here from overseas or only just qualified. Certainly not the "experts" that people like to dream.
