Yay! No more Fiat Uno 45's (late 80's, my first car) or Citroen AX 1.0 Debut's left on the road; the former had an indestructible engine, everything else just fell apart around it, the latter made me pledge to never buy another French car!

I was looking at the 1.0l engines! IIRC The Fiat's FIRE (Fully Integrated Robotised Engine) was made by robots and had valve clearance; never failed to start.

I was talking to a recovery driver back when Uno Turbos were common, he had one but went out to recovery one where there was a fatality. The car had hit something and roof just peeled and partially decapitated the driver. He said as soon as he got home he phoned Autotrader and put his up for sale.

As we've already drifted a bit OT, I had a '93 Uno 1.7D and I can honestly say, pound for pound, it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I thrashed it to within an inch of it's life doing a 38 mile each way commute, every day for nearly three years and aside from an oil and filter change every 3 months or so, it cost me nothing and never let me down. Granted it wouldn't go over 60mph (noise issues) but it did average somewhere slightly in excess of 50mpg, regardless of how it was driven. Oh, and weirdly, it wasn't a rust bucket!
