There is a shredder up on the Docks near you BB that shreds WHOLE cars!
Been around for a few years now too.
Literally the whole car is fed in and it comes out shredded, including the engine being shredded.
It does IIRC have an HV motor though!

ive got a dog that wouldn't be challenged by most of that - this weeks highlight was one of those stainless steel pan scourers he has done a pc motherboard in the past

no if you got a finger caught your best option would be to pull and lose the finger. although by the time you had realise you would probably be up to your shoulder anyway

We used to do work at an incineration plant, they had a similar contraption for mushing up old animal carcasses. Feed em in whole.

I can see a use for it now, would do a good job of the foxes, rats and maggies. at the moment they just go in whatever bin isn't full on the farm

there will be a hopper to feed them in to but its open at the mo so u can see the workings of it

It's owned by Sims Metal Recycling, I go there a couple of times a year for work. It's the largest shredder in the world and featured in a National Geographic documentary a few years ago

There's a guy near me who fell into an overhead crane gearbox when he was working at Head Wrightsons as a sparky's mate in about 1980. He stuck his hand out to break his fall and got his fingers in the meshing teeth of a pair of big steel gears.
He said that as his fingers went, the first thought was not to pull his hand out as you instinctively don't want to hurt yourself.
By the time it got to mid-palm he was beginning to think he ought to do something... and once it got hold of his overall sleeve, that was when he started to think he was in trouble.
He eventually lost his arm to just above the elbow; then the stump wasn't healing so they had to take a few more inches off.
He went back to Uni to finish his degree, got into advertising and ended up spending most of the 80s as a Yuppie in Maggie's Britain (flash cars, house in the country, flat in Sarf Ken etc.), last I heard he was the spin-doctor for the local Labour MP.
