How long do work boots last?

I'd want a year out of a pair of Straus. A fair few guys at work (fabrication) wear strauss boots, and get well over a year from them, all our workwear is ES too, its quality stuff.

I tend to get new ones around September, so theyre at their best though winter, and when they're getting tired, it's summer and waterproof isn't much of an issue.

Mine always used to fail at the sole (coming away from the upper).

A good stitched welt goes a long way, my £30 Max Steels have done over a year now.

Valid point from @Hitch - changing tired boots at the end of dry summer - September is a "sensible date" to swap over to new boots - with winter ahead...

I used to wear Dickies full petrochemical boots for probably 10years, with laces and a stitched in side zip, they were awesome boots I would get at least 18 months out of them on farm jobs and commercial sites. They then stopped doing them so I ended up with all sorts of different makes, currently on Scruffs Ridge boots, about 6months old now and still good nothing falling off them, still comfy and still waterproof!
Most important to me is comfort, I am much like many others here and only take them off when I get home!

dewalt , usually apprentice trainer boots , with the tan soles as they are solid and not hollow like the black ones are ,,, I buy a pair and wear them out and about till they are scruffy then they turn into work boot ,, they usually last a year or so ,,, then repeat .
once boots leak I bin them , wet feet first thing in the mornings grim when you have to wear them and work all day . I dont mind most things but draw the line at wet feet.

Not often me and Hitch agree - but he right on this score....

I work predominantly on groundworks sites so spend my time almost always in mud.
This is a good idea but in my experience should be backed up by a second pair of boots.
My boots last about a year so I buy a pair at 6 month intervals. Therefore I have not only a good pair but also a dry pair for when the first pair have leaked from spending 8hrs in a muddy puddle.
Also spreads the cost rather than buying 2 new pairs at the same time

Was told as a kid not to skimp on your boots or mattress as if you're not in the one your in the other.

Advice that has served me well.

£120 ish is average price for work boots.

Tried all the usual suspects and found timberland boots the best, but seem to have gone to 5hite.

I am hard on footware.

Cat at the moment but 8 months in and need to be replaced.

Probably going to be the same again as there isn't much to choose from that suits me.

Depends on what your job is and where you work, I've had boots for a years in some places and for a few months in others, totally depends on the conditions and how much your firm is willing to pay for PPE.

We get Cat boots at work, best part of a ton a pair, like the sort of thing Herman Munster would wear, but do last the best part of a year with zero maintenance.
