I've finished building the firewall and cabin on my 4x4 buggy build. It's made from aluminium panels, but I decided to paint them anyway since the shiny alloy stood out too much. My plan is to seal with fireproof natural cure silicone rather than PU sealer, as the latter won't come apart easily if I ever need to remove a panel for access. Someone warned me to ensure the paint is fully cured before applying the silicone or the curing process could be messed up. Thought I'd check with you good folk who seem to have experience with these things. How long should I wait, based on your experience?
The paint I used is Lechler Isolack, isocyanate-hardened 2K. This is the standard 2K single-stage poison, not the colour plus lacquer type used on car bodies.
