Wife and son have ordered bits and pieces, arrived on the day promised. That’s from Amazon, which comes via the post. Not seeing as many delivery vans going about apart from the two local companies.
Fine so far. We both use Amazon (we have Prime) regularly and there have been several things that I've ordered over the past week to make WFH more amenable. Also stuff for about the house, etc., as that's been made a bit more awkward by Screwfix quite understandably limiting their range. Placed an order with F H Brundle yesterday and that's due for delivery on Wednesday.
Slowest seems to be regular post but I don't begrudge any delivery service in these strange times, a few bits and bobs from eBay, etc. We know our regular posties by name and they're awesome.
(Doffs cap to delivery drivers and Royal Mail folk, besides every soul in the NHS and care and welfare profession.)
We get a lot delivered at work every day from all sorts of couriers.
Speaking to our royal mail guy he says they are busier than they get at Christmas so I'm not surprised things might take a little longer than normal at the moment.
My metal suppliers have still delivered on time despite lowered man-power. Items from China have been a few days later than advertised, but nothing of any major concern. Genarally, deliveries of all types have been pretty good.
In the last three days I've had deliveries from Flogas, a portable gas heater in case our bulk tank ran out. Also from Screwfix, an electric heater, same reason. Had a couple of deliveries from the local beer supplier too. Royal mail still delivering most days as normal.
The usually ring and run, but I surprised the postie today by opening the door as he rang the bell, not thinking, and he leapt back a mile.
Got another inverter off Ebay.
Ordered 12/03/20.
Despatched from China 19/03/2020.
To Hong Kong 21/03/2020.
Heathrow Airport 22/03/2020. No customs charges Guess they didn't want to handle it.
Delivered by Royal Mail 25/03/20.
Thank God they haven't banned the flights.
Can't complain.
Saying that, I ordered some rechargeable batteries off Ebay last Sunday just to save me popping out unnecessarily. They were due yesterday (Friday) and haven't arrived yet. The seller's only in South Yorkshire too.
Should have had a new bed delivered last Friday which we haven’t got yet . Not surprising under the current circumstances, although a phone call from Bensons for beds would have saved dismantling the old bed , taking it downstairs then having to take it back up and reassembling . Hope to get a grocery delivery Tuesday , we will see.
