About 19 mph running from a policeman with my spit on his shoe.i could have made it through a midgets legs i was so low to the ground

about 170ish in a car i had rebuilt from the ground up.my mind was racing faster though
did i torque that bolt right?did i remember to bleed the brakes?
do i unhook the seatbelt if it does look about to be all over?
did i clear the internet history?

The fastest I have felt is riding my mountain bike down the tight single track at the back of Ross.
It is tight, twisty steep and fast. To get max speed you have to flick left/right between two trees to straightline the steepest bit and hop the roots. I have hit 40mph down here.
An amazing feeling, get it wrong and it will hurt.
Guys half my age are shocked by my behaviour and cant keep up. The best bit is the last 50 feet, up the berm, flick left and then float over the boulders and land laughing like a maniac by the family trail. One day I almost killed a bunch of BMX bandits half way down, cue screams as they dived into the brambles.

I am hoping to go mountain biking with my paragliding chums soon. That might be a laugh. I am regarded as a safe and sensible pilot.

I'm so jealous, there's no decent tracks near me.

It's strange how motorways suddenly have corners instead of curves when you're going over 130!

You're not kidding, there are some really tight corners when your the wrong side of 100mph on the M6 going past Birmingham, I needed a couple of lanes to get around some of them corners My only defence is that it was late at night when the roads were very quiet and I got from South London to Poulton-le-Flyde (247 miles) in 2 1/2 hours my girlfriend at the time couldn't believe how fast I'd got back from London.

No they aren't.
From 1999 to 2001 the Hayabusa had no top-speed limiter. After 2001 (actually any 'busa fitted with clocks that only read up to 186mph) there were two limiters used, a soft limiter that cut the fuel to two of the cylinders every other firing stroke in 6th (to limit power) and a hard limiter that cut the spark to all (rev limit). This is particularly important to anyone turbocharging the bike because if you have secondary injectors you must not ever hit that soft limiter on boost because your secondaries will still be providing fuel causing instant super-lean running and detonation will immediately result. There is a free utility to disable that feature in the ECU specifically for the purpose.

I've been on a Japanese bullet train but it was only "dawdling" up the mountains to Gala, a ski resort a couple of hours from Tokyo.

Jonathan Palmer race days used to happen at my works every couple of years after we had completed a big project, we used to get the various suppliers to team up as its not cheap, however even with exotic cars and single seaters the top speed on a circuit wasn't that high.

I think my fastest top speed in a car was either in my work mates old BMW 635 CSL "batmobile" on the M18 on the way back from Sheffield to Doncaster in the early 80's, it was a fairly new motorway, completely empty. I was his apprentice and asked how fast does it go....... I'm not sure how fast 'cos I had my eyes shut, after only being in my dad's mini and a double decker bus it felt like a space rocket. He had it nicked a few years later, they go for silly money now, I think he still has a spare engine in his workshop.

The other top speed was in another work mates BMW, this time an M5 with that crazy V10 F1 engine in it. Nice empty motorway leaving Belfast, I've been in spiced up Subaru's etc. but the push in the back was epic. I'm not sure how fast, it always feels faster in the passenger seat . Unfortunately my mate died of leukaemia this time last year, he was only in his early 30s.

One a few months ago that was a good one and I will remember, was drag racing at a run what you brung. Tearing up a measured 1/4 mile at an open vw club meet at an airfield, in a Holden Monaro 5.7l v8 which has been tweaked about to put out 500ish bhp and over 300ft/lb of torque

Took a couple of runs to get to grips with getting the power down (with the traction control off) at the start rather than leaving 100ft long rubber stripes up the runway (in my defence though, not my car lol)
But once got the start sussed though, the acceleration was immense. No idea of top speeds, but between a few of us driving it, creaming Subaru STi's, couple of Sierra Cosworths, quite a few sooped up BMWs, Audis and such like was an out and out hoot!!! Only thing was getting the tyres to grip lol

Coming up to J29 roundabout on the m1 on my ninja 600, porsche gt3 came up my **** flashing and gunning his engine... came round the bend onto dual carriageway he booted it and we were neck and neck all the way up to the roundabout, only reason i passed him was cos he had to brake earlier than me...

Another time was tootling along around 80 mph on my ninja and a bike flashed past me like i was stood still, dual carriageway no other traffic, 140mph for about 3 miles on my ninja, was wringing its neck to get that fast though as 22 stone of me wasn't helping, finally caught up to the guy at some lights about 4 miles on to see a bloke on a GSX1000r who looked like he weighed about 8 stone wet through, and i thought i was racing him!!! I would have been eating his dust and then some if he felt like really having a play...

An indicated 145mph as a passenger in a police T5 on the A47 near Norwich. At the time I wasn't allowed to drive as I was only a Special.

Top as the driver was 120mph in my old 2.0l DOHC Sierra Sapphire at 2am coming home from being on duty as a Special...

as per the title, what is the fastest anyone has achieved, whether it in a car, drag car, bike, boat etc?

I am not including airborne vehicles as that's fairly easy for everyone to jump on and say 'I did 500mph on the way to spain last year' lol

I plan on breaking 200mph on a mates hyabusa when we find a suitable place to do so. so far the max I have hit is an indicated 187 on the same mates cbr929rr

Hi did 110 on my Norton Commando once in the late 1970s, m20 in kent no traffic. Leaked oil like crazy once the revs got about 5000. I think the worst bit was that with only twin leading brake shoes on the front brake, one became a fast moving bullet with little chance of stopping

Rode a mate's Yam R1 at 160 (on his satnav; my own Honda 1300 runs out of puff at an indicated 150 - or 143 according to Mr. Garmin).
Last year I took another mate's ZZR1400 to an indicated 180 on das autobahn for a few seconds until, rather like Star Trek, everything (including my undies) had started to turn streaky.

well the extra ballast err i mean weight would keep u stable and on the ground if u kept your head down

Bicycle - indicated 44mph on my Cateye Strada bike computer coming down the West side of Hartside summit during my coast-to-coast ride. It's only afterward you think "you total toilet, 44mph over tarmac and you're wearing one layer of lycra!!!!!!"
