How many V tecs have you had on a dyno then ? and actually seen the power boost from it when it kicks in.

the v-tec in the s2000 certainly felt like it worked...

I stand corrected then. I did a bit of reading from the Web ages ago about this engine when the wife's car broke down. I was led to believe the valvetronic system negates then need for a butterfly. I must have miss interpreted what the Haynes book said. I was just glad to get the bloody thing going again after numerous fault codes when the eccentric cam shaft motor failed then a few months later the timing chain slipped, luckily no valve damage.

on ours we had soft limit at 9750 we used to rev ours to just under coz 10000. was hard limit

I really don't care.....I came to annoy, V8's beat V-Tec though.....
I like my engines to shake the earth and torque twist the car as you rev it!

depends what you want in a car...i like v8's but i want something quick that does more than 7mpg...if your going to have something with a v8 then you may as well do it properly and have a big one...LS7 would be nice but hardly economical, things like teh honda v-tecs offer people 2 cars in one, a nice smoth daily driver and a car with some decent power at the twitch of a pedal

i quite like honda's as a get you to a and b car, her father has a civic type s diesel and its lovely to drive and good on fuel but nothing special

My 351c got 24mpg on a run from Cornwall to Crewe....I'm aiming for about 18 on a run out of the new 500cu motor
You'd be surprised at what they can get when driven right, the V8 in my series one land rover got 25 on the way back from Surrey to Windermere

Turbo is always going to out do v-Tec but as an owner of a honda who has driven lots of turbo,v6,v8 and supercharged cars you can't beat Hondas for fun,reliable and quick cars at the end of the day it's always down to choice but how many other cars can you have as a daily driver with very good mpg that you can go straight from road to track and hold your own (also between my close friends and family we have 8 v-tecs at d minute so I know them very well )

About 17 in the 351 if sensible....but I had twin side exits and liked the noise so more like 12

and for that reaso i wont own a v8 as a daily driver...
so back to the OP, what sort of power do the s200's have? if i had to guess i would say around 200hp? didnt feel as quick as i thought it would but still fairly fast when teh v-tec is on

How about an e36 M3 300 BHP plus monster, quite reasonably priced but don't go for the SMG box though

Insurance is what is stopping me going for a proper toy. I would be looking at 5k to insure an m3.
