With any 40+ year old equipment, when do you say enough is enough, time to get a new one? I'm all for saving things but maybe the cost etc is just too much to spend on this??

A mate of mine works in a press factory. They expanded and bought a load of new equipment - mothballed the old stuff. Now they have gone back to the old stuff after the modern machines kept breaking down. They make loads of parts for the automotive industry. Modern high tech cars with parts made on machines 60 years old
