How do i start?

HI everyone. My name is Peter and i have load's of questions I wanted to become a proffesional welder in Portmsouth. Case is that many job advertises are asking different techniques, and it's confusing me a lot.
What would be most universal, Portsmouth- Marine industry orientated welding technique ? Doe's someone live in area of Portsmouth to meet up perhaps intoduce me to my first weld before i join college ?
Is there any recomendation where i could study welding part time around portsmouth area ? Thank you so much for help.
Also i wanted to know what qualifications are commonly needed to find a job somwhere, so that i could search for appropriate learning course.

Hi Peter,

Seek out an employer with a view for you being taken on as an apprentice, also phone various training providers around your area for info and a possible start with a company?

As for different welding processes you have viewed in papers or job centre, you will learn them over time once you are duly employed.

Knock on doors, email, snailmail, phone, generally be a pest for a start!!
