How do I Reset a Murex Propane regulator?.

I have purchased a used Propane torch set c/w Murex P-4 regulator [as in image attached]. Can anyone tell me how to check the setting/reset, as I think it has been messed with.

Should have a black plastic cap on the front that aligned with the marks on the side to give a rough indication of output pressure.
If you think its messed with rather than just the cap missing, smash it up and skip it. Then replace.

I have the cap but the internal locating square is 'rounded off'. Just would have liked to have adjusted it correctly rather than bin it, decent quality reg. If I can't get the info I may get one like brightspark pointed out. In any event I will put it in the car for when I come across a BOC dealership, they may know more about it.

slackened right off will be no pressure right in will be full pressure once set they rarely need adjusting . if pressure was 2 high for your torch or heater it would just blow the flame out. just use as is .use an adjustable spanner to alter it if u need to

That's what made me think it was badly adjusted, it just wouldn't light. I'll have a play with it and adjust to 2-3bar and go from there. Many of the regs available seem to be adjustable to 4bar+

Those blowtorches usually run at no more than 2 bar maximum. I have a bullfinch one kicking around somewhere, all I do is give the reg a quarter turn or so to get some gas flowing then light it up and increase the pressure till you get a blue flame, if you overdo it all that will happen is the flame burns away from the nozzle and goes out.

Thanks all for you help, I've set it to around 2.5 bar which works fine and as Paul suggests lighting. Good regulator, just don't like throwing stuff like this away if it can be sorted, apart from the fact that I'm a Yorkshire man.
