Kinda looks like stone-chip, but it's thicker and more textured, so I think it's a different product.
For background, having done the most pressing rust repairs on the MX5, there's another "fix now or regret later" section to address in the rear quarter panel:
However that goes into the textured paint that runs along the door bottom and outer cill, and the owner is very keen than any repairs should look as original as possible.
So I have been tasked with:
1) finding out what product is used to achieve that finish,
2) practicing on some sheet steel until I can demonstrate that it will come out as desired,
3) repairing it.
Any help greatly appreciated.
