About 3 weeks ago I started to get bees coming in to the house via the front bay window. They appear to have nested/infested underneath the lead that goes around the bay window on the outside (see photo of one crawling in).
During the first week or so I was catching them in a thickish towel, and releasing them to freedom through the back door. Quite honourable you may think. Well maybe it was, until the stinging started.
The first sting was definately my fault because I just grabbed a thin T shirt on this occasion to catch one instead of fetching the towel. I then reverted back to the trusty towel. Then, I was putting my jeans on and one of the little bar stewards was inside the jeans, and stung me on the 'back of the knee'-ouch! The final straw was when I was doing sit ups in my boxers and I was stung on the back of the thigh-it must have been on the carpet?
By this time my patience expired, so out comes the 1500w vacuum. Although I had to stand holding the nozzle at the 'bee entrance' for 20 minutes it worked very well. To my shame I sucked up about 100 of them.
The problem had not gone away. Yesterday I got the vacuum out again. I also squirted some ant powder around the area afterwards, that is visible in the photo.
The problem still exists after 3 weeks, so I have turned to the bank of knowledge & experience on here. Sorry for killing so many bees. I hated doing that. Maybe I should have phoned the council, but I thought I was able to resolve it , but I have failed.
