How do youbactualy bend it though I can't seem to figure that out

i think with that type you use a hammer and piece of wood to tap it over into a bend whilst the base holds it tight

this type it folds with a hand up



it allows you to start a bend in your case the second one down the 5mm piece is smaller than the shape you need

theres 5mm below so when you close the vice it will force it into shape

with no bender id put 3mm in the vice hold the material not forgeting my vice is a deep wide one samsonia

then tap it over using a hammer and a piece of wood i prefer more than steel steel marks it once pre bent over a little id use both steel above and below to shape it with vice

sounds silly putting a round bar and hitting it down into the vice will create the same shape

Well had another bash at it and welded it on to the wing..plan is to back fill the edge with weld which will then allow me to round the edges abit to match existing strip better.

Need to make up an edge for the inner side of wing still but not far off.

Good stuff. I'd just say always make it bigger than you need and then trim down to size when in place ideally and don't stress about trying to make a repair piece from one bit of steel, if it's got multiple shapes/bends/angles etc then sometimes it's just easier to make out of several sections and then weld and grind it.

Agreed. I’d have been tempted to extend the ends, slit them so the compound curve don’t cause too much issue and then bend the edges over and infill weld where the slit fingers need it.

Not at that price,2 bits of angle do the same job

Finally got round to finishing the sill work and floor pan so have the wing a quick etch primer and thin coat of black so it did t stand out too badly..
Hasn't turned out too bad but iv ideas on how to improve when he wants the other wing doing

very few jobs that you get to the end of and dont have a fresh idea for next time , i think thats what keeps it all interesting.
