no its insulated ...just boils down to i dont want to pay for it lol

pretty confident if i got the timer plug to whack the sotrage heater on low for 2 hrs i wouldnt feel it as ive heated the brick not the air

will have to see how it goes , i see what youre saying its already there

My storage heaters have two controls, one sets how hot it gets when switched on. The other sets how fast it looses heat. Seems like what you want is it set so it looses heat fast and a timer so it only comes on a couple of hours before the economy tariff goes off. Previous owner of out house had done this with the bedroom storage heaters and it sort of worked. Timers had to be synchronised as they stopped if we had a power cut. Old fashioned timers, they took power from normal circuit but switched off peak circuit to heater on and off.

dont need the bricks or so many if using it for instant heat i guess

How much heat, from a panel heater, will be left in the room, if the heater goes off a 6am and you don't get up until 8am?

econ 7 kicks off at 7.30 so would be about right

prob just as well to poke up with the cold and use more heat in the living room rather than £xx to knock the chill off a room for 2 hrs

I am all electic in my flat ...economy 7. I have 4 night storage heaters ....2 x 1.5Kw and 2 x 3Kw. The 1.5kw's have never been used or turned on in the 29 years I've been here. Pointless heating a landing or even a kitchen where they are. The E7 kicks in at 12 midnight and goes off at about 6AM. It takes all night to heat up these 3Kw heaters. I dont think 2 hours would be enough time to heat up to give any usefull heat. My heaters are the old type....Creda. These have just 2 controls , one to adjust the power used and the other to open/close the vents to displace the heat. My landlord had a new NS heater fitted to the downstairs flat at a cost of over £500. It needs power 24 hours to power the led display, timers and fans. The heater still uses E7 when it cuts in at 12AM . I still prefer the old type.
I think you may be better off with a fan heater connected to E7 to heat the room before you get up.

the new fancy ones just crack on with full price fan heater if daytimes get too cold right?

to be honest id rather go down the chinese diesel heater than the cost of those things anyday

electric dosnt provide enough heating to warm a place up

hot water tanks have improved considerably and can be used to store very hot water in them its why we can use them with solar and wood stoves

for flats they are stuck with the emersion heaters for houses they have alternatives but the diesel heater can be used to heat water up rather well and be stored for morning release with a rad system in minibore piping

I'm having to move from this flat after 29 years , the landlord has sold up so , I probably wont have E7 in the future . I must say , I've had no problems with heating in all these years. Very warm through the winter and enough hot water. I was interested in fitting some solar panels and rigging up another copper tank with a heat exchanger inside and some 12v immersion heaters. This might have stopped the 3Kw immersion heater being on every night through the summer.
Not sure where I'm moving too but if it's in the sticks I'm still interested in a alternative form of heating and lighting . I have 2 generators for emergency's but I'm thinking of the future as things could get worse as far as prices and supply.
